The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) announced on Thursday that the first batch of A-29 Super Tucano planes had left the United States and will arrive in Nigeria by the end of July.
The 6 aircraft will be leapfrogged across five countries, according to NAF spokesman Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, who told journalists in Abuja.
Before landing in Nigeria, he named the nations they will visit as Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Spain, and Algeria.
”An official induction ceremony of the aircraft into the Nigerian Air Force inventory is already being prepared for a later date in August 2021, to be announced in due course,” Gabkwet added.
Nigeria requested 12 aircraft from the United States in order to fight ongoing insecurity in the country.
