Noel Le Graet, head of the French Football Federation (FFF), has confirmed that Didier Deschamps will remain in command of France until after the 2022 World Cup.
Despite being considered as the pre-tournament favorites, Les Bleus underwhelmed at Euro 2020.
In the first knockout round, the world champions drew 3-3 with Switzerland before being eliminated on penalties.
Following France’s exit, there were rumors that Deschamps might step down, but Le Graet insists that he will lead them to the next major competition.
“The answer is yes. I talked to him at length on Wednesday at Guingamp,” Le Graet said in an interview with Le Figaro.
“The matter was settled in three minutes. His will to continue is very strong and mine is, too. There was no debate on ‘What are we doing?’ or ‘How do we do it?'”
After coaching Monaco, Juventus, and Marseille, the former France captain took charge of the national squad in 2012.
Under Deschamps, France has won 76 of its 117 matches.
He led them to the Euro 2016 final, where they were defeated by Portugal, before winning the World Cup in 2018 with a 4-2 win against Croatia.
France will concentrate on their World Cup qualifying campaign in 2022.
They have two victories and a draw from their first three games and will play Bosnia and Herzegovina on September 1, followed by matchups against Ukraine and Finland.
In October, they will face Belgium in the UEFA Nations League semi-finals.
