End to twitter ban in sight – Lia Mohammed

Must read

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari has promised to lift the ban on Twitter activities in the country.

The Nigerian government will withdraw the ban on Twitter operations in the country “in a matter of days,” according to Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture.

Mohammed made the announcement following a virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting at the State House in Abuja, which was presided over by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo (SAN).

He stated that Twitter has agreed to the terms under which it can function in the country.

The Nigerian authorities banned Twitter in the country a few months ago.

Mohammed had stated at a news conference that the microblogging service had been banned because it was a threat to Nigeria’s unity.

Some Nigerians, according to Mohammed, were using the site to spread secessionist messages.
