Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya has donated two brand new and fully equipped hilux vehicles to the Gombe State Command of the Federal Fire Service in fulfilment if his earlier promise to support the Federal Fire Service in the State for efficient and effective service delivery to the people of Gombe.
This donations is coming less than two months after the governor promised the Controller General of Fire, Dr. Liman Alhaji Ibrahim at the occasion of the commissioning of a modern fire fighting truck deployed to Gombe state. At the event the Governor promised to provide two hilux vehicle for the FFS State Command so as to boost their efficiency.
“You may recall that in July this year when we gathered here to commission the ultra modern fire fighting vehicle deployed to Gombe State, we pledged to support the service by providing them with these hilux vehicles that can be used to access hard to reach areas and as utility vans for staff and thank God we have been able to deliver on our promise today”. The Governor said.
Governor Inuwa who also promised to provide a land for the Service at the heart of the State capital said “Very soon like I promised, we will provide a befitting office in the heart of the metropolis where Gombe line is situated once the Gombe mega park is completed and the transport company moves out, the Federal Fire Service and indeed any other facility that will be useful centrally for the people to enjoy and benefit will be located within the centre of the capital city so that there will be access and service can easily get to the people whenever it is needed”.
Speaking earlier at the occasion, the Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service, Dr. Liman Alhaji Ibrahim, who was represented by Assistant Controller-General in charge of zone I, Philip Odu, expressed his appreciation to Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya for the prompt redemption of his pledge to provide the service with two hilux vehicles. The CG assured the Governor that the Federal Fire Service will ensure that the vehicles are judiciously used for the benefit of the people of Gombe.
The CG said, Governor Inuwa has set example for other governors to follow. He therefore used the opportunity to call on other governors to follow the example of Governor Inuwa while commending some governors who are already supporting the Federal Fire Service in their states.
The CG reiterated that the safety of lives and property of Nigerians requires synergy and collaboration, promising that the Federal Fire Service is always ready to partner with state governments and private organization to provide a safer Nigeria void of fire disaster.
