Kaduna Monarch Gyet Maude freed after 48 hours in captivity

Must read

Gyet Maude, the paramount ruler of Jaba Chiefdom in Kaduna State, has been released by his kidnappers after being held captive for 48 hours.

Anthony Maude, the 83-year-old first-class monarch’s brother, informed reporters on Wednesday night.

Maude was kidnapped from his farm in the Gitata village of Nasarawa State on Monday.

The bandits eventually contacted the family and demanded a N100 million ransom before releasing him.

The monarch’s brother does not say whether or if the ransom was paid.

There is no official statement on the development as of the time of posting this story, since the state police command’s spokesman, ASP Mohammed Jalige, could not be reached.

The tragedy occurred just two weeks after the 85-year-old emir of Kajuru, Alhassan Adamu, and 13 other members of his family were kidnapped by bandits.

The emir was able to reclaim his freedom from his kidnappers in less than 24 hours, although other members of the family were held captive.
