Morocco is to transfer 100 acute care beds and a similar number of ventilators to Tunisia to help the country deal with an increase in COVID-19 cases, according to Rabat’s foreign ministry.
Morocco has joined a group of Arab countries that have pledged to assist the North African country as it battles the largest coronavirus outbreak since the pandemic began, putting its healthcare system under extreme strain and depleting oxygen supplies.
Intensive care units are overcrowded, and oxygen is in short supply, according to officials.
In Tunisia, the overall number of coronavirus infections has risen to 497,613, with 16,388 deaths.
