Nigeria to Commence New Plastic Recycling Project

Must read

Nigerian Breweries plc, the country’s largest brewing firm, has announced the commencement of a new plastic recycling operation. The ‘NB Recycles’ project is part of the company’s continuous environmental activities, and it will benefit both its employees and the host communities where it works.

Several easy collection stations will be set up at all of the company’s nine locations and corresponding host communities, according to a press statement. Discarded materials such as used plastic bottles, aluminum cans, paper, cartons, nylon, and glass could be dropped off by company employees and members of the public in exchange for monetary awards.

The initiative aims to promote community-led plastic recycling and combat plastic pollution, thus restating the company’s commitment towards environmental sustainability, it said. The project is described as one of several ways by which the company attempts to drive awareness on plastic pollution and recycling.

The project is being run with the support from Wecyclers- the leading waste recycler, who in turn will be responsible for collection, sorting and recycling of all plastic waste from employees and community members.

The official launch of the NB Recycles Project was held in the company Head Office at Iganmu, Lagos.
